Good Morning! Here is my daily fantasy baseball injury report. Throughout the season I will post daily content (and if not, I will give you a few days heads up that I'll be absent). These injury reports are of those that were either scratched, removed, or placed on IL the previous day. If a player is reported as injured after 8am, their name appears on the NEXT days injury report. Yes, that does mean that the later games may have players who are put on an injury report a day late. I try to speculate on who will take the players place in the lineup/order/rotation based on depth charts and stats. This is just speculation; I am no god. Think of it as brainstorming with you, the fantasy owner, as a way to mitigate your loss. I do not update players health status. Once they are placed on here, they are out of sight and out of mind until they drop the designation and are playing in a game. Even then, if they are not fully in the game I will not comment. Thank you for giving my reports an opportunity and a look. I hope you found them helpful.
Hitters
Boston Red Sox: Xander Bogaerts (SS) - After his return on Friday against the Yankees, Bogaerts was given Saturday off with a wrist injury. He had gone 0/3 on Friday and it is unknown when exactly he suffered the issue. He may return today, but we'll see. Kike Hernandez is the guy for Boston when it comes to utility. He's hit .235 this year with 11 home runs and plays all over the field.
Colorado Rockies: Raimel Tapia (LF) - For an unknown reason, Tapia was a late scratch on Saturday. It is more concerning than a regular last-minute scratch given that the Rockies are dealing with a COVID situation at the moment. Either Garrett Hampson or Josh Fuentes could cover for him in the outfield. They hit around .245 together, Hampson offering speed over Fuentes as well.
Detroit Tigers: Niko Goodrum (SS/2B/OF)/Eric Haase (C/LF) - Prior to the doubleheader on Saturday, Goodrum was placed on the IL with a calf injury. He had been dealing with something prior to the all-star break, but was given an opportunity to play prior to his placement. Haase on the other hand was injured during the game after being hit in the head with a pitch. Haase did want to stay in the game, but that was definitely not an option. Zach Short will start at SS with Goodrum out, he has struggled at the plate for a while in both the minors and majors (.215 or so). Despite the lack of power and speed, Harold Castro makes the most sense at SS give his .278 average. When it comes to the outfield, Derek Hill should start in CF with Akil Baddoo moving over. Hill is .235 but already has 5 steals, whereas Victor Reyes isn't even at .190. Grayson Greiner will be behind Jake Rogers as the backup backstop with Haase out.
Los Angeles Dodgers: Mookie Betts (RF/CF) - Going through possibly the hottest streak of his career, Betts was dominating on Saturday with a 4/4 against Colorado. He left the game early with a hip injury that will definitely keep him out for Sunday according to management. Zach McKinstry is the backup RF on the squad, going .248 with 7 home runs on the year. Matt Beaty is another option who has hit .262 with less power.
New York Yankees: Tim Locastro (CF/LF) - Not long after joining the Yankees, Locastro is now done for the season. He collided with the wall early on in the game on Saturday, resulting in a torn ACL. For the moment the team will have to go with Greg Allen starting in LF alongside Brett Gardner in CF and Trey Amburgey in RF. Both Park and Amburgey have hit over .300 in AAA this year.
Pitchers
Cincinnati Reds: Michael Lorenzen (RP) - The season went from bad to worse for Lorenzen on Saturday. He had finally returned to the mound for the first time in 2021, and could only go one inning prior to exiting with a hamstring injury. Josh Osich is one of their better relievers with nice rates and low high leverage opportunities.
Detroit Tigers: Jose Urena (SP) - Following three scoreless innings, Urena exited the game on Saturday with a groin injury. He was immediately placed on the IL. Either Matt Manning may be recalled to take part in the rotation, or Tyler Alexander and Daniel Norris will split the start in a bullpen game. Alexander has been the best of the three this year in his opportunities, and pitched 3.1 innings on Saturday.
Milwaukee Brewers: Devin Williams (RP)/Brad Boxberger (RP) - Prior to the game on Saturday, Williams was placed on the IL with an elbow injury. The MRIs did not reveal anything significant, but it is also unclear when he became injured because his last several appearances were solid. Boxberger on the other hand allowed a home run and did not get an out on Saturday, then exiting the game with a shoulder issue. Jake Cousins, and Miguel Sanchez are two relievers in the depths of the bullpen with limited looks and great rates. Cousins hasn't allowed a run in 11.1 innings.
Minnesota Twins: Derek Law (RP) - The reliever was placed on the IL on Saturday despite not pitching since prior to the All-Star break. The injury is shoulder related and it is unclear when the injury occurred. Jorge Alcala is one of their more solid relievers without the high leverage opportunities. One of those type of pitchers who either allows the run or gets them out.
New York Mets: Jacob DeGrom (SP) - Following the All-Star break, DeGrom is experiencing forearm issues that have resulted in his start being pushed back. There is no indication of serious injury, but it is not 100% certain he pitches in the near future. The rotation likely will continue to be: Stroman, Walker, Tylor Megill, Jerad Eickhoff, and Seth Lugo.
